All membership fees go towards the running of the club such as insurance, web hosting and event subsidies
The club is very welcoming of new members. We know what it's like to come along and meet new people and being a small club its easy to get to know people
Chester IVC has been running since 1991 and is one of the original Chester social groups so we know a thing or two about running a social club
Events with Chester IVC are hosted by the members of the club and can be anything from a night on the town to a trip away.
As the club is not for profit we can offer a low annual membership fee which covers the cost of running the club. For new members this is just £10 in the first year.
Why not take advantage of our 3 month trial membership to find out if Chester IVC is for you before becoming a full member
Chester IVC is a friendly social club for professionals and graduates in the age range 21 to 45. We are not a dating group, but a group of like-minded people who want to meet new people, try new things and stretch their horizons. All of our events are organised by our members which makes for an interesting mix of diverse activities from countryside walks to city breaks, from comedy nights to theatre visits, from afternoons spent supping a glass of vino or a hoppy ale to kayaking.
We have a mid-week pub night known as ‘Club Night’ which is held in a different pub in and around Chester each week. This is a relaxed get together where we meet up with old friends and get to make new ones.
In addition to our regular mid-week events and weekends away, on most weekends we arrange events including meals, Sunday lunches, cinema trips, house parties, pub crawls, BBQs, concerts, shopping trips, guided walks, themed parties and anything else that members want to organise. Events are run by members for members so there are no additional costs beyond the cost of the activities themselves.
Membership is currently set at £10 for the first year £15 after that. We are a self-run ‘not for profit’ club which is co-ordinated by our elected Committee.
IVC stands for Inter-Varsity Club and has its origins in Cambridge in 1946/47 as a way of enhancing the social life of students. There is a network of IVCs across the UK and we are a member of the national Association of IVCs (AIVC).

"I joined needing to kick-start a stagnant social life. It's been a great experience, I've met lovely people and attended varied and fun events. Highly recommended"
"I joined IVC to grow my network in Chester and have new friends who are always ready for a spontaneous night out. That's exactly what I got!"
"I joined IVC in 2013 as I wanted a better social life, I was certainly not disappointed. I have made friends for life and would recommend it to anybody."
"Going to my first event I was very nervous but I was made to feel really welcome by everyone there. I have made some firm friends and enjoy the variety of events on offer"
"I moved to Chester purely to be closer to work and for a while I didn't know anyone, or have any real connection with the city. Since joining IVC I've made some life long friends, had some great nights out and seen so much more of the city and the area"
